Our Veterinary Partner

Medical Oversight

At the Gardens of St. Gertrude, every cat in our care receives professional veterinary oversight. Medical decisions are not improvised, delayed, or optional. They are guided by licensed clinical expertise and delivered through an established local veterinary partnership in Limassol.

Our sanctuary works in close collaboration with Dr. Markos Ktori of the Limassol Veterinary Clinic, ensuring that all animals receive appropriate, timely, and humane medical care.

Expert Care

Dr. Ktori provides direct clinical oversight for cats supported by the Gardens. This includes routine health assessments, emergency treatment, surgical procedures, and post-operative follow-up. His involvement ensures that care decisions are medically sound and aligned with animal welfare best practices.

In a country facing a severe overpopulation of abandoned cats and limited public resources, access to consistent veterinary care is essential. This partnership allows us to respond not only to visible injuries and illness, but also to underlying health issues that would otherwise go untreated.

Scope of Care Provided

Cats under our protection receive veterinary services that include intake examinations, treatment of infections and injuries, parasite control, spay and neuter procedures, pain management, and recovery monitoring. Medical care is provided both for urgent cases and as part of long-term stabilization and prevention efforts.

Spay and neuter services are a central component of our work. Preventative sterilization reduces future suffering, lowers disease burden, and addresses the root causes of the crisis rather than reacting to its consequences alone.

Why This Matters

Transparent veterinary partnerships are fundamental to ethical sanctuary operations. Naming our veterinarian and clinic reflects our commitment to accountability, animal welfare, and responsible stewardship of donor support.

When you give to the Gardens of St. Gertrude, you are directly funding professional medical care delivered by a licensed veterinarian, not informal or unverified treatment.

This is how we protect individual cats today while working toward a more stable and humane future for cats in Cyprus.
